Day Art for Kids – Resin Art on Tuesday, July 21, 2020

What kind of gem do you want to see in your vanity trays ? A star sapphire in blue, green or purple? An amethyst?

Our process simplifies the art of blending color, texture and depth in two beautiful metal vanity trays. We create these by using a combination of seemingly random supplies starting with a beautiful metal vanity tray plus resin, and various types of papers, paint and even glass and crystals. As with our most of our other classes, unskilled artists can enjoy tackling this project with a huge amount of success, and skilled artists can put their creativity to work in no time flat.

Using a decorative metal tray as the foundation, we introduce a variety of elements to our resin to create a realistic replica that has all the depth and interest that you would expect to find in it’s nature-created gem counterpart. If you are new to resin art or have never worked with resin before, you will find this to be a wonderful beginner piece, or a clever piece for moderate or advanced resin artists. It is created by building layers of materials in a fun and easy to follow format, allowing non artists to achieve beautiful results side by side with skilled artists.

In this class you will mix and match colors and papers to put your personal touches on your piece. This project is part art, part science and part math, and to us, it’s all parts fun!  No two pieces will look alike. These trays are not only beautiful, but fully functional to set on your counter, dresser or nightstand. Use for a beautiful jewelry tray, or a phone charging station. Serve up a gorgeous tray of your favorite hor d’oeuvres, or hang on the wall. However you decide to use them, your trays will be a source of pride, always fun to look at and talk about for years to come!

An art apron, gloves and all other supplies are included to create a beautiful work of art. As always, wear your favorite clothing to paint in! Until further notice, all participants must wear masks for the duration of the class for the protection of each other. Disposable masks will be available on site for $5 each.

We might use a small craft paint brush in this project to clean up the edges, but no straight lines will be drawn. 🙂
