What kind of gem do you want to create? A star sapphire? An opal? An amethyst?
This beautiful gem art is created using a combination of seemingly random supplies starting with stretched canvas over a wood frame base, plus resin, glitter, glass, crystals and various types of papers and paint. Unskilled artists can tackle this project with a huge amount of success, and skilled artists can hardly wait to dive in with their creativity.
Using a stretched canvas base, we are able to introduce fundamental elements of resin art to create a realistic gem replica that has all the depth and interest that you would find in it’s nature-created counterpart. If you have never worked with resin before, you will find this to be the perfect piece to get started with. It is created by building layers of materials in a fun and easy to follow format, allowing non artists to achieve beautiful results side by side with skilled artists.
As a participant, you will mix and match colors and papers to put your personal touches on your piece. Opals, sapphires (in green, blue and even purple) make this a dynamic introduction into the world of resin art. This project is part art, part science and part math, and to us, it’s just plain fun! No two pieces will look alike. Your painting will be fun to look at and talk about for years to come!
An art apron, gloves and all other supplies are included to create a beautiful work of art. As always, wear your favorite clothing to paint in! Until further notice, all participants must wear masks for the duration of the class for the protection of each other. Disposable masks will be available on site for $5 each.
We might use a small craft paint brush in this project to clean up the edges, but no straight lines will be drawn. 🙂
