Ebru artist Gulay Baltali has more than a decade of experience in creating Ebru, a Turkish art that has been thriving since its inception in the Thirteen century. Here she will guide you through the use of authentic tools such as the horse hair paint brushes, stylus tools and specially blended paints that are a part of creating this magical art that floats on water.
In this class, you will learn how to apply the paints to the surface of thickened water, where you will 
guide your stylus, combs and/or other tools to create colorful designs. You’ll start by learning how to create the base of most Ebru patterns – 
Battal. From this base pattern, you will learn how to use stylus tools to make new patterns and forms, to be captured by setting special papers onto the surface of the water bath, where the paint will transfer from the water to the paper. In mere seconds, you can pull your stunning piece from the surface of the water.
This special class is offered on the first Thursday of every month with a focus on the technique of this old world art, and is for beginners and experienced Ebru artists and everyone in between who wants to learn something new or hone their skills to become a master Ebru artist.
